Everything this app can ask your phone for, why it asks, and what happens if you say no.
What the app asks for
Location, while using the app
Asked for only when you tap "Use my location" on the Temples screen, so that temples can be listed nearest first. Sent once, used once, never stored. Say no and search by name or city instead — no other screen is affected.
Contacts
Asked for only when you tap "Invite from contacts" on the Refer & Earn screen, so you can choose who to invite without typing numbers out. We show you what will happen before the phone’s own permission box appears. Your contacts are read on this phone and never leave it — nothing is uploaded, nothing is stored, nothing is shared, and the app cannot message anyone: it opens WhatsApp with the invitation written out and you press send. Say no and you can still share your code by link, message or word of mouth.
Internet
To fetch the day’s blessing, chapters, aartis and your own saved things, and to carry your messages to the companion. Everything you have already seen stays readable with no connection.
What the app never asks for
Microphone — blocked in the Android build. On the web version, dictation uses the browser’s own permission and runs only while you hold the button.
Camera, photos and files.
Permission to add or change contacts. We only ever read them, and only when you ask us to.
Contacts, calendar, SMS and call logs. Family circle members are the ones you type in yourself.
Location in the background. The app never asks where you are while it is closed.
Permission to track you across other apps and websites. There is no advertising or analytics SDK here to track you for.
Changing your mind
Location can be granted or revoked at any time in your phone’s Settings, under this app. Nothing in the app stops working if you revoke it.
